A Helping Hand
May. 10th, 2012 09:00 pmWhen they first came to the town near the valley of the Truffula trees, Twig and his companions hadn't been planning on staying. The locals apparently didn't take kindly to locals and even with the forest nearby to set up camp in, it would be hard to stick around when most of the shops refused them custom. Twig tried not to hold it against the townsfolk, knowing that gypsies didn't really have a good name, but it was still extremely frustrating.
Especially when everyone else looked to him as the leader and he didn't know what to tell them.
After being confronted by an orange furball of righteous fury, though, they had come across another inhabitant of the valley - one who had, thankfully, been willing to take their money and buy some supplies they needed. As long as they didn't cut down any trees - "But how are we supposed to get firewood?" Tarp had protested, only to receive a lecture from the voice of the trees - they could stay for a while.
Which was very good. They needed a rest after the last bout of travelling, especially Maugin and Spooler - and Goom, the enormous brown bear who could only be understood by Twig, had been limping after getting a thorn stuck in one paw.
So, a couple of days after the got settled, Twig made his way over to the Once-ler's home, intended to thank the man properly for his help; without him, Sky alone knew what they would have done.
